David Bryan Duke

David Bryan Duke November 30, 1950 – August 29, 2024 Funeral services for David Bryan Duke, 73, will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Skyview Baptist Church in Okemah, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. David was born on November 30, 1950, in Prague, Oklahoma, to Bryan Eugene Duke and Oleta Maxine (Davis) Moore. A lifelong resident of the Okemah area, David was a proud 1969 graduate of Okemah High School. On May 2, 1970, he married the love of his life, Brenda Kay Gulley, in Oklahoma City. David dedicated many years of his life to public service, retiring after a lengthy career with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. He also served his community through his work with the Okemah Fire Department. David was a proud veteran, serving his country with honor in the United States Army National Guard from 1969 to 2010, where he was a member of the 120th Engineering Battalion. An avid outdoorsman, David found joy in the simple pleasures of nature. Whether roaming the woods in search of mushrooms, hunting, or trapping and selling furs, he cherished the time spent in the great outdoors. David also had a deep passion for the water, spending countless hours fishing and noodling. David was preceded in death by his father Bryan Eugene Duke, his mother Oleta (Davis) Moore, his stepfather Leslie Moore, and one brother Garrett E. Duke. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Duke of the home; his daughter, Tracy Kay Dean and her husband Britt of Okemah; his son, Bryan Eugene Duke and his wife Amanda of Henryetta; his brother, Roger Dale Moore and his wife Melissa of Blackwell; his two sisters, Tammy Jo Reese and her husband Alan of Nardin, Oklahoma, and Lisa Ann Kadavy and her husband Kevin of Edmond, Oklahoma. David was also a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Cade Dean, Reid Dean, Kaylee Duke, and Colton Duke. Serving as active pallbearers will be nephews: Jared Reese, Garrett Duke, Brandon Duke, Christopher Duke, Kaleb Kadavy, and Hunter Moore. Honorary bearers include Donnie Henson, Shane Duke, Bryan A. Duke, and John Martin. Services will be officiated by Pastor David Hamilton and are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah, Oklahoma.
