Charles "Gene" Stacy

Funeral services for Charles Eugene Stacy will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Skyview Baptist Church in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Rock Creek Cemetery south of Okemah. Charles Eugene Stacy, known by all as Gene Stacy, passed from this life July 6, 2015 at his home in Okemah at the age of 77. Gene was born in Pharoah, Oklahoma, March 4, 1938, the ninth of ten children to Virgil and Lillie Stacy. He married Nancy Carrol Mobley in Ukiah, California on December 7, 1956. He finished the 7th grade before working the fields with his family. Gene worked as a mechanic in the saw mills in California before moving to Oklahoma in 1977 where he worked at J&L Diesel. Gene enjoyed time at the lake with family and Nascar Racing. He built his cars and also raced in Ukiah and Lakeport, California. He was rookie of the year and high point champion and track champion. Racing was his passion. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Stacy; grandson, Ronnie Stacy; brothers, Elmer Stacy, Short (G.C.) Stacy and Silas Stacy and one sister, Juanita Henderson. He is survived by his sons, Richard Stacy of Oklahoma City, Ronald Stacy of Henryetta and Ross Stacy of Okemah; daughters, Ruth Stacy Degge of Okemah and Regina McGee and husband Steve of Okemah; grandchildren, Barry Stacy and wife Julie of Yreka, California, Jennifer Degge of Edmond, Steven McGee and wife Crystal of Ada, Amanda Landrum of Okemah, Joshua Degge and wife Val of Okemah, Nick McGee of Okemah, Ross Ty Stacy of Mason and Joseph Degge of Okemah; six great-grandchildren, Ambree, Caleb, Graysn, Sophia, Mason and Silas; three brothers, Omar Stacy of Okemah, Ray Stacy and wife Lottie of Morris and Billy Stacy and wife Helen of Okmulgee; two sisters, Wanda Wilbourn of Okemah and Oma Edwards of Okemah; sister in law, Ruby Stacy of Okemah and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation and viewing will be Tuesday 4:00 – 8:00 PM and Wednesday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Raymond Stacy. A luncheon and reception will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Skyview Baptist Church in Okemah.
