Chloe Ann Coker

Chloe Ann Coker was born in September 1939 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Chester Howard and Connie (Howard) Clayton. She passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the age of 81. Chloe grew up in Okemah among a large, loving family, and graduated from Okemah High School in 1957. She married her high school sweetheart Nolan Coker in June 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Okemah. Chloe and Nolan lived most of their marriage in Cromwell, where they raised their family and became an active part of the community for many years. Chloe graduated from East Central University in only 3 years, while also raising her family. She went on to teach 3rd grade for 30 years--receiving Teacher of the Year Awards at 2 different schools- Butner Schools in Cromwell and Oaks Elementary in Okemah. Many of Chloe’s former students will say she was one of the best and kindest teachers they ever had! She truly was meant to be a teacher. And while teaching was important to Chloe--her true joy came from her family. She was married 52 years to Nolan- the love of her life, and her world revolved around her children and eventually her grandchildren. She was always ready to jump in the car and go to a pig show, piano recital, football game, tennis tournament or concert. After retirement, Chloe and Nolan moved to Tuttle, OK. Chloe became active in the Tuttle First Baptist Church, volunteered at the Tuttle Public Library, and read to a 3rd Grade class weekly at Tuttle Elementary School. When not spending time with family, Chloe loved playing cards with her friends, cooking, crafts, shopping, reading, and decorating her home. Chloe is preceded in death by her husband Nolan Coker, her parents Chester Howard and Connie Howard Clayton, and her sister Janie Howard Brock. Survivors include one son, Lee Coker and wife Jeanette of Tuttle; one daughter, Kelley Milton and husband Kevin of Roanoke, Texas; one sister, Lynn Eppes and husband Joe Stanley; four grandchildren, Katelyn Spencer, Rafe Coker, Chelsea Coker, and Caroline Milton; and 3 Great Grandchildren; Nolan Spencer, Maxim Coker and Delta Coker. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers who helped Chloe through her battle with Alzheimer's Disease, including Legend at Rivendell Memory Care and Traditions Health Hospice. Visitation for Chloe will be at The Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah, Oklahoma Friday, June 25th from 5-7pm A Memorial Service will be held at The First Baptist Church of Tuttle Monday, June 28th at 10:00am. Graveside services will be Monday, June 28th at 3:00 PM at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah.
