Sidney Renae Edminsten

A Cowboy Church celebration for Sidney Renae Edminsten will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Crossroads Cowboy Church in the Okfuskee County Fair Barn in Okemah with Pastor John Riggs officiating. Sidney Renae Edminsten was born September 3, 2006 in Ada, Oklahoma. She left this world very suddenly and unexpected on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Even though she was so young, she touched the hearts of everyone who met her. Her bright smile and big eyes always showed her love to everyone around. Sidney was a student at Okemah Head Start. She loved to sing “Look at me, look at me, I’m a Head Start Kid”. She was getting ready for the Pioneer Day Pageant in Okemah and was going to sing “The World is a Rainbow” in the talent competition. Just this week; Sidney had learned to ride her new “big kid” four wheeler and she was smiling and trying to make us proud. We know the time spent with her was short but her family received a blessing from God who allowed us to have her for this brief time. Survivors include her mother, Deana Edminsten of Okemah; her “bestest” friend and big sister, Kelsey of Okemah; her father, Byron Sheppard of Castle; her maternal grandparents, Terry and Lori Edminsten of Okemah and her great-grandmother, Dorothy Edminsten of Okemah. Sidney also has two other sisters, Brianna and Alexis Sheppard and one brother, Byron “Buba” Sheppard all of the Okemah area. Also Troy Votra of Okemah who Sidney looked forward to him being her dad when he and Deana get married later this year. She is also survived by her Aunt Tara and Uncle James Grace of Shawnee; her favorite cousins, Courtney and Brodie; many cousins, aunts and uncles. Her teachers, Miss Amber and Miss Lisa; the kids at Head Start; and Jennifer Dye (who she stayed with every afternoon). She also has her extended family, the Welchers of Okemah. Sidney loved seeing Dobie and arguing with him about pizza. She is survived by the John Lilley Correctional Center family of friends. Sidney, Kelsey and Deana are members of the Crossroads Cowboy Church in Okemah. This church has rallied around the family with love and uplifting support. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah. Please join us in worship and praise as we give thanks to the Lord for allowing Sidney “Nae Nae” to be our special gift. She will be so missed and her passing has left many hearts hurting.
