Lyndol Raye Wilson

Funeral services for Lyndol Raye Wilson will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Lyndol Raye Wilson was born April 2, 1949 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Carl and Atha (Adams) Wilson. He passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 67. Lyndol was a 1967 graduate of Okemah High School and past member of the Okemah School Board. He also was involved with the Okemah Little League having coached both sons’ teams. He and Shirley Ann Brandt were married May 1, 1970 in Cromwell, Oklahoma. Lyndol was a longtime resident of Okemah. He and Shirley moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma to be near their grandchildren in 2010 and were currently residing in Norman, Oklahoma. Lyndol worked as jet engine engineer at Tinker Airforce Base for 34 years before retirement. He served his country with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War with the Hotel 2/5 Company; having received two purple hearts and one silver star. Lyndol enjoyed flying his airplane, fishing, hunting, golfing, traveling the country, riding motorcycles and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion 123, the VFW #539 of Henryetta, McAlester Scottish Rite and Masonic Lodge. He was also an avid OU football fan and season ticket holder since 1984. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Wilson and wife Velma; his mother, Atha Kelton and husband Jack and one brother, Gary Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Wilson of Norman; two sons, Kevin Wilson and wife Jill of Sevierville, Tennessee and Daren Wilson and wife Melissa of Norman, Oklahoma; one brother, Larry Wilson and wife Diane of Tulsa and eight grandchildren, Braden, Brinley, Breslyn, Brandt, Colin, Nathan, Seth and Carly Wilson. Serving as active pallbearers include Ron Gott, Ronnie Duncan, Bobby Reed, Greg Wilson, Tommy Brandt, Randy Rutland, Danny Rutland and Nokey Klutts. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Cliff Nichols, John Hoagland, Davey Duke, Nick Lambeth, Garrett Duke, Dewayne Wilson, Dr. Gary Schmidt and Hotel 25 Company. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma and officiated Bro. David Hamilton.
