Jerry Lee Chisholm

Jerry Lee Chisholm, age 71, lost his battle with cancer on July 4, 2009 at his home in Okemah. His wife, his RN, and other loved ones were at his bedside. Mr. Chisholm was born September 23, 1937 in Okfuskee, Oklahoma to Edna and Claude Chisholm. Mr. Chisholm was a graduate of Okemah High School class of 1956 where he was active in football, track, and basketball. He was President of his graduating class and participated in the freshman and junior drama productions. Mr. Chisholm was a veteran and served in Korea as a cryptographer. Following his military service, he obtained a degree in accounting from the University of Houston and enjoyed a lustrous career as a Comptroller and Operations Manager for a number of state, national, and international companies. His career involved but not limited to: Project manager for Motor Castings, Production Manager for Prime Cast, Inc., Operations Manager for Universal Antennas, Manager of Cost Accounting for Lebanon Steel, Production Control Manager for American Foundry Group, Inc., Director of Administrative Services for Texas Electric Cooperatives, Inc., and American Heart Association, and lastly Operations Manager for VerTex, RSI and General Dynamics where he was involved with the production and implementation for President Regan’s “Star Wars” projects. He obtained two governmental top-secret clearances for the work done in connection with the Department of Defense. He had a sharp analytical mind, but even when the work was of a serious nature, could interject his humorous wit. Mr. Chisholm enjoyed reading and studying the Bible and could always refer back to bible scripture when addressing any situation. He loved his family and some of his happiest moments were entertaining them with his outdoor cooking skills on the grill and serving up a mean steak. He liked working with plants and loved to see them grow and become vibrant. He always thought the countryside was beautiful and enjoyed sitting on his patio just looking at the view. To know him was to love him. He will be greatly missed by all who love him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna (Baldridge) Chisholm; his father, Claude Chisholm; and two brothers, Donald Ray Chisholm and Floyd Earl Chisholm. Survivors include his wife, Jo Etta (Ogden) Chisholm of the home, son, Stuart M. Chisholm of Stockholm, Sweden; son, Keith Bryan Taylor of Bristow, Oklahoma; aunt, Wanda Howard of Okmulgee and numerous cousins. Serving as pallbearer will be Nathen Ogden, Quince Shepard, Ritchie Pratter, Kyle Clifton, Hayden Clifton, and Hunter Clifton. Services under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Bob Howard.
