James Loren Lambert

A memorial service for James Loren Lambert will be held Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Okemah with Bert Robison officiating. James Loren Lambert was born on July 25, 1952 in Claremore, Oklahoma to James Marion and Nancy Lambert. He passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at his home in Muskogee at the age of 70. Jim is preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by his wife , Sandra Lambert of the home. Two sons, Jimbo Lambert and wife Rachel of Verdigris, Oklahoma and Isaiah Francis of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Two daughters, Kristie Cherry and husband Anthony of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Madison Francis of Muskogee, Oklahoma. One brother, Jan Lambert of Jay, Oklahoma and one sister, Dana Parks of Brownsboro, Texas and three grandchildren, Jayda Cherry of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Roy and Ava Lambert of Verdigris, Oklahoma. Jim graduated from the from Claremore High school in 1970. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Oklahoma State University and went on to graduate from the Northeastern State University college of Optometry. Jim practiced in several Indian Health clinics, including Pawhuska, Miami, and Claremore. He was also the director of Optometry at the Muskogee Creek Nation Clinic in Okemah. Most recently, was employed with Presley’s and Associates in Sand Springs and Tulsa. Jim strived to provide his patients with exceptional care that included home visits and weekend visits. Many patients had his personal cell phone number to contact him if needed. No matter where he lived, Jim was an active member of the community. He served on school boards, coached little league teams, and served on various boards including The Okemah Golf Course Board of Directors. Jim also served on the Keetowah Tribal council. In his younger days, Jim was an avid softball player and spent many weekends on the ballfield. He played on national champion teams on the All-Indian Softball Circuit. Jim enjoyed coaching his kids, grandkids, and others in the sport. Jim played in the old timers’ games during the Creek Nation Festival a few years ago and decided he needed to stick to coaching. Jim was an active member of the Oklahoma Masonic Indian Degree team and served as Assistant Director. Jim enjoyed traveling with the team throughout the US as well as out of the country trips. Jim’s hobbies included hunting, training his bird dogs and playing golf. He especially enjoyed golfing with a group known as “The Legends”. Most of all, Jim loved spending time with his family. Jim was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and his office staff. He was known for his homemade spaghetti sauce and chili. Jim was a fan of OU Football and OKC Thunder basketball, but most of all he enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids in their various sports and activities. He was their biggest fan.
