Frosty Peak

Funeral services for Forest “Frosty” Peak will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Baptist Church at 620 N. Cemetery Road, Yukon, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Castle Cemetery west of Okemah, Oklahoma and officiated by Rev. Mike Lewis. Forest Oliver “Frosty” Peak was born December 24, 1941 in Enid, Oklahoma to Forest R. Peak and Lois (Tobin) Peak. He passed away at his home in Oklahoma City on July 23, 2015 at the age of 73. Frosty was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Frosty was a Enid High School and Phillips University graduate. He moved to Oklahoma City to start his first grocery job and spent over 30 years in the grocery business and later retired from Albertsons. Frosty was the Director of Emergency Management for the City of Yukon until his death. He was well known for his role in Oklahoma City politics and served two terms on the Oklahoma City Council beginning in 1993. Frosty was active in many committees throughout his life including the Chair of Aviation Committee, Metropolitan Area Projects (MAP) Review Committee which stimulated economic development and provided quality of life for OKC citizens. This project include the Bricktown Canal, Bricktown Ballpark, the Civic Center Music Hall, Cox Convention Center, the Chesapeake (Ford) Center and many other projects for Oklahoma City. He also served on the Finance Committee, Legislative Committee and the Annexation/Deannexation Committee. Frosty was instrumental in the approval of the 1995 General Obligation Bond which included the Emergency and General Communication complex and improved animal welfare facilities and the Land acquisition Route 66 park, improvements at Lake Hefner and Overholser and Ward 1 street, bridge and drainage improvements. He was a friend of police and fire personnel in numerous municipalities and supported them in many ways. Following the 1995 Murrah Bombing, Frosty provided food for rescue workers, attended daily briefings with medical and public safety personnel, attended memorial services for the victim’s families and survivors, visited fire stations and visited schools and other organizations. Frosty was very involved with community service also. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Shriners, Charter President of the NW OKC AMBUCS, Mabel Bassett Correctional Center “New Beginnings” program and Trustee of the Putnam City Public Schools Foundation. He also received the Warren E. McCain award from Albertsons for community service. Frosty loved people; teasing and encouraging others. There are many Albertsons employees who called him dad, worked for him many years and kept in touch. He was known for not calling local police when a shoplifter was caught stealing food, diapers or other basic necessities, but would if they were stealing beer and cigarettes. For a short while; he also had a paper route and worked at Serapio’s Tortilla Factory. Frosty was a member of the Oklahoma Emergency Management Association and chaired the Legislative Committee. He and Terri Woolridge were married January 23, 1999 in Laughlin, Nevada. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vance Peak. He is survived by his wife Terri Woolridge Peak of Oklahoma City; five children and nine grandchildren. They include, Susan Loglisci and husband Anthony, children, Luke and Lyric of Stamford, Connecticut; Brad Peak and wife Cam, children, Zach and Cole of Oklahoma City; Mickie Peak Sewell, children, Caleb and Jacob of Tulsa; Ashlie Reed and husband Robert, children Randi and Rachael of Yukon and Justin Peak of Okemah and grandchild, Walker. He is also survived by three sisters, Adair Sherwood of California, Patricia Morahan of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Marilyn Beardslee of Texas; one brother, Don Peak of Texas and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Pastor Tom Arnould. Viewing and visitation will be Monday, July 27, 2015, 8:30 AM – 8:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma. Donations and contributions may be directed to the youth programs at Good News Church in Yukon, Oklahoma and the youth program at the Castle Baptist Church, Castle, Oklahoma.
