Eva Leona Maxwell

Funeral services for Eva Leona Maxwell will be Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah, OK. Eva Leona Maxwell was born August 20, 1934, north of Okemah, Oklahoma to William Fred Piearcy and Delia May (Crosby) Piearcy. She passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021 in Okemah, Oklahoma at the age of 86. Leona was a lifelong resident of the Okemah area. She was 1955 graduate of Okemah High School. Leona married Paul W. Maxwell on July 21, 1957 in Okemah. The couple was blessed with three children; Delinda, Fred, & Pam. She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and Eastern Star where she served as a Worthy Matron. She was active in Rainbow Girls with her daughters having served as head mother. Leona was an avid quilter having made a quilt for all of her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. She also loved to bake, making the pies for her daughter’s restaurant. She loved playing cards with her great grandkids and would call them out when they tried to cheat. She retired from Wrangler manufacturing plant after 25 years. She was affectionately called “Grammy” by many and loved by all. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Maxwell; parents and two brothers; Dean and Alva Piearcy; one brother-in-law, Floyd Smith; one nephew, Larry Piearcy; one niece, Debbie Mealer. She is survived by her son, Frederick “Fred” Maxwell and wife Annie of Okemah, OK; two daughters, Delinda Barlow and husband Mike of Shawnee, OK and Pam Oliver and husband Mike of Guthrie, OK; one sister, Edna Smith of Okemah, OK. Grandchildren; Shakara Stone and husband Richard of Paden, OK, Christy Sorrels of Prague, OK, Christopher Barr and wife Jessica of Palm Bay, Florida, Melody Scott and husband Doug of Okemah, Anthony Maxwell and wife Tonya of Okemah and Neal Smith of Okemah; 11 great-great-grandchildren: Tanner Been, Jaycee Sorrels, Nathan Stone, Matthew Stone, Trevor Scott, Octavia Scott, Brooke Glover, Natalie Maxwell and Theo Maxwell. Also, a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Maxwell, Tanner Been, Matthew Stone, Trevor Scott, Nathan Stone and Neal Smith. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home and officiated by Bro. Dennis Shepard.
