Elnora Earlene Collins

Funeral services for Elnora Earlene Collins will be Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Assembly of God Church in Wetumka. Interment will follow at the Wetumka Cemetery. Elnora Earlene Collins was born December 12, 1931 in Bearden, Oklahoma to Earl and Ada Young. She passed away, Friday, March 8, 2013 in Okemah, Oklahoma at the age of 81. Elnora spent most of her lifetime in Wetumka. She and Joel Collins were married in May of 1948. To this union seven children were born. She was a devoted nurse and began working at Wetumka General Hospital in 1964 as a Nurse’s Aide and received her L.P.N. degree from Gordon Cooper Vocational Technology Center in 1973. She worked at Wetumka General Hospital, Holdenville General Hospital, Creek Nation Hospital and the Wetumka Clinic during her career. She worked in acute care, emergency care, obstetrics, surgery tech and as a clinic nurse. Elnora loved her family “get-to-gathers” and preparing meals and working in her flower gardens; but most especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church in Wetumka where she was a teacher in almost every Sunday school department. She also served as President of the Women’s Ministry Group for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Collins; her daughter, Rhonda Collins; father, Earl Young; mother, Ada King; stepfather, Frank King; brother, Gaylord King; sisters, Laverne Benedict, Rita Hawkins, Geneva Young; and great-grandson, Keith Ghaemmaghami. Survivors include six children, Joetta and Hartsell Brinlee of Okemah, Joyce and Allen Hopkins of Blanchard, Laquita and Ronnie Harris of Weatherford, Vickie and Gene Pullen of Wetumka, Greg and Gail Collins of Buffalo, Wyoming and Rita and Scott Felz of Yukon; one brother, Clois King of Tecumseh; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Serving as active pallbearers will be grandsons, Ray Harris, Leslie Price, Donnie Joe Pullen, Cody Collins, great-grandsons, Chance and Seth Dean. Honorary bearers include great-grandsons, Hayden Harris, Levi Harris, Isaac Harris and Davis Bridges. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Darrel Bo Gibbs and assisted by Rev. Curt Bellinger.
