Dorothy A. Davis

Dorothy Angeline Jones Heffington Davis, age 85, was born November 29, 1928 in Tiger Flat, (near Okemah) Oklahoma, to James R. Jones and Tessie Shropshire Jones. She passed away on March 28, 2014 in Rogers, Arkansas. Dorothy was a homemaker and worked for Okemah Public Schools in the cafeteria for ten years. Her greatest love was her family. She also loved to read, and she instilled a great love of reading and learning in all of her children and grandchildren. Dorothy graduated from Okemah High School in 1946, and she married Barney Heffington on February 3, 1947. She and Barney made their home in Tulsa, where they were members of Parkland Baptist Church. Together, she and Barney had two daughters, Judi Heffington Bean and Debby Heffington Simpson. Barney preceded her in death on September 17, 1962. Dorothy later married Thomas Davis, of Okemah, on June 1, 1964. They made their home in Castle, and together they had two daughters, Connie Davis Schadel and Cheri Davis Lassiter. Thomas preceded her in death on June 21, 1977. Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her four daughters, Judi and John Bean of Okemah, Debby and Gerry Simpson of Castle, Connie and Greg Schadel of Sapulpa, and Cheri Lassiter and special friend James Barlow of Bentonville, Arkansas; Dorothy’s nine grandchildren, Jason and Meggin Bean of Okemah, Jessica and Michael Isaacs of Prague, Cori and Scott Hildebrand of Jenks, Brian and Shelby Simpson of Lenexa, Kansas, Caitlin Riddle of Oklahoma City, Dalton Barnes and Talia Lassiter of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Tom and Adrienne Schadel of Sapulpa; and her ten great grandchildren, Kenzie, Morgan, Addy and Cole Bean of Okemah, Christopher and Laura Kay Isaacs of Prague, Shelby, Jack and Josh Hildebrand of Jenks, and Elliot Simpson of Lenexa, Kansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death her parents, James R. and Tessie Jones; her husbands, Barney Heffington and Thomas Davis; her brother, Thurman Jones; and her sisters, Jewel Baker, Thelma Baker, and Wanda Teakell. Services will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Starland Davis. Viewing will be Sunday, 4:00 – 8:00 PM and Monday 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home.
