Cynthia Page Dunson

Funeral services for Cynthia Dunson will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Okemah. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery of Okemah. Cynthia Page Dunson was born August 2, 1939 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Arra and Bethel (Wolf) Ryker. She passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 84. Mrs. Dunson was a longtime resident of Okemah and a 1957 graduate of Okemah High School. She later received a master’s degree in education from Southeastern University. Mrs. Dunson retired after a long teaching career, having taught at Oakes Elementary in Okemah from 1980 until her retirement in the mid 1990’s. She was a great teacher whom her students adored. Mrs. Dunson enjoyed sewing, painting, was an avid Oklahoma State Football fan. In recent years she became known for her “penny poker” skills and had many “bingo bucks” from her Bellarose winnings. She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Jim Dowell and James “Sonny” Dunson; one son, Jimmie Brent Dowell; two brothers, Norman and Eugene and two sisters, Wilma Jackson and Mary Ellen Copeland. Survivors include one son, Toby Dowell and wife Pam of Okemah; one daughter, Page Davidson and husband Joe Don of Broken Arrow; two brothers, Joe Ryker and wife Janet of Owasso and Steve Ryker of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one sister in law, Ruth Ryker of Wichita, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, Ryker Davidson (Emily), Breckyn Hudelson (Derek), Zachary Dowell (Chelsea), Landon Dowell, Tanner Dowell, Skylar Dowell and Annabelle Dowell and 2 great-grandchildren, Barrett and Everly Davidson. Serving as active pallbearers will be Ryker Davidson, Zachary Dowell, Landon Dowell, Tanner Dowell, Eric Ryker and Breck Ryker. Honorary bearers include John Copeland, Craig Ryker, Jim Bill Copeland, Nicky Joe Lambeth, Jason Ryker, Jerry Jackson and Kyle Ryker. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma and officiated by Pastor Pup Rogers.
