Carl Wilson

Funeral services for Carl Wilson will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Welty Cemetery. Carl Wilson was born March 23, 1922 in Paden, Oklahoma to George H. Wilson and Margaret E. (Mannon) Wilson. He passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 92. Mr. Wilson was a longtime resident of the Okemah area. He and Velma Wilson were married May 15, 1970 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma; she preceded him in death July 17, 2014. Mr. Wilson served with the United States Army in WWII at the Invasion of Normandy, Ardennes and the Battle of the Bulge. He participated in the Oklahoma Honor Flight program going to Washington DC to view the WWII Memorial in June of 2013. Mr. Wilson enjoyed hunting, fishing, working cattle and following all sports events especially the ones his grandchildren were involved in. He worked as an electrician but could do just about anything and was known to wire houses all over Okfuskee County and sometimes for free to those who not financially able to pay. Mr. Wilson was of the Baptist Faith and was baptized in a farm pond near Mason, Oklahoma by his brother in law in the late 1950s. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one infant son, Gary Lynn Wilson; three brothers, Alvin, E.D. and Howard Wilson and one sister, Jewel Webb. Survivors include his two sons, Larry Wilson and wife Diane of Tulsa and Lyndol Wilson and wife Shirley of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Betty Campbell of Okemah and Patty Zaletel and husband Sam of Okemah; two brothers, Jess Wilson and wife Georgie of Okemah and Harlan Wilson and wife Peggy of Prague, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Greg and wife Brenda of Jenks, Oklahoma, Kevin and wife Jill of Sevierville, Tennessee, Stacy Franklin and husband Jon of Maddison, Alabama and Daren and wife Melissa of Ponca City, Oklahoma; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, 12:00-4:00 PM and Monday 8:30 AM – 8:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Family will be at the funeral home to greet visitors Monday, 6-8 PM. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. David Hamilton.
