Bonnie Marie Thomas

Funeral services Bonnie Marie Thomas will be held Monday, August 16, 2010 at 10:00 AM graveside at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Bonnie Marie Thomas was born January 24, 1923 in Preston, Oklahoma to Frank and Aurah Garrison. She passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Colonial Park Nursing Home in Okemah at the age of 87. Bonnie had been a resident of the Okemah area most all of her life. She and Mack Marshall Thomas were married June 27, 1939; he preceded her in death May 10, 1996. Bonnie and Mack worked hard to establish their cattle ranch just north of Okemah. She worked right along side Mack building fence, clearing land, and all the other things associated with ranching. Her family told her she was an amazing woman. After her first stroke 22 months ago; she fought hard to be able to do as much as possible. She began to make quilt tops even though she could only use her right hand. She had always kept busy doing something. She has had a few businesses such as dog breeding and a pet store. Bonnie and Mack also owned and operated a grocery store in Okemah for many years. Bonnie had a huge heart for others and loved the Lord. She was admired and respected by all family and friends and will be extremely missed. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one granddaughter Sarah Beth; and one grandson, Shane. Survivors include her four children, Mary Ann Crosby and husband J.D. of Okemah, Jerry Mack Thomas of Casper, Wyoming, Joanne Jacobsen and husband Pete of Prunedale, California and Patty Sternjacob and husband Rick of Polson, Montana; one sister, Dorothy Kaiser of Okmulgee; two brothers, Roy Franklin Garrison of Lakeland, Florida and E. Ray Garrison of Okmulgee; her grandchildren include, Tommy Brandt and wife Gina of Okemah, Penny Strunk and husband Jamie of Okemah, Bill Thomas and wife Lloydene of John Day, Oregon, Bob Thomas and wife Teresa of Aurora, Oregon, Jay Thomas and wife Denise of Alaska; Jessica Thomas of Twin Falls, Idaho, Jimmy Thomas of Caldwell, Idaho, Eric Jacobsen of Oklahoma, Jeffrey Jacobsen of Salinas, California, Russell Jacobsen and wife Chloe of Hong Kong, Kristopher Jacobsen and wife Elizabeth of Julian, California, Shelley Calzado and husband Steve of Redmond, Oregon, Kelley Laird and husband Todd of Prunedale, California, and Bill Fortney and wife Angie of Missoula, Montana; 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Honorary Bearers include Eugene Cheatwood, Joe Edgar Cheatwood, Jason Friedman, Peter Jacobsen, Rick Sternjacob, and J. D. Crosby. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Ken Vandeveer.
